Heat -Limitation of motion is a major area of concern in rehabilitation. Thus, one of the most relevant and important goals in Physiotherapy is the restoration of the client's full range of motion (ROM) in an attempt to maximize function. Our San Jose, Santa Clara area physiotherapy professionals can help restore your range of motions. The shortening of connective tissue or the formation of new connective tissue often causes decreased motion. Superficial heat has been proven advantageous in the remodeling of connective tissue.

Ice - Ice is one of the simplest, safest, and most effective self care techniques for injury, pain, or discomfort in muscles and joints. Ice will decrease muscle spasms, pain, and inflammation to bone and soft tissue. You can use ice initially at the site of discomfort, pain, or injury. You can also apply ice in later stages for rehabilitation of injuries or chronic problems. During an initial injury, tissue damage can cause uncontrolled swelling. This swelling can increase the damage of the initial injury and delay the healing time. At T.E.A.M. CLINIC, our San Jose, Santa Clara area physiotherapy professionals use ice to decrease swelling, tissue damage, blood clot formation, inflammation, muscle spasms, and pain. At the same time, the ice enhances the flow of nutrients into the area, increases strength, and promotes healing.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation - Electrical muscle stimulation, also called EMS, is a type of therapy in which electrical impulses are generated by a machine and travel through electrodes on the patient's skin and then into their muscles. The electrical impulses mimic the central nervous system's impulses and cause the muscle to contract. Usually, electrical muscle stimulation is used in therapeutic applications, but some athletes use it for sports training purposes as well.

Cold Laser - Cold Laser Therapy is a treatment whereby a cold laser is utilized to treat chronic and acute pain. Cold laser therapy increases serotonin levels which allow the body to heal itself. Cold laser therapy is non-thermal and noninvasive. A combination of cold laser and electric stimulation, cold laser therapy is one of the most effective healing therapies in the medical community today.

Traction - Therapeutic spinal traction uses mechanically created forces to stretch and mobilize the spine. Traction may alleviate back pain by stretching tight spinal muscles that result from spasm and widen intervertebral foramen to relieve nerve root impingement. The goal of traction is to reduce pain to assist the patient to become more functional.
